Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Council
Introduction
The Sri Lanka – Malaysia Business Council was inaugurated on February 23, 1994 under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka. The main objective of this Council is to promote joint ventures in trade, tourism and services between Sri Lanka and Malaysia. In accordance with the constitution, His Excellency Badli Hisham Adam , High Commissioner for Malaysia in Sri Lanka is the Patron of the Council.
Vision
Promote Malaysian investments to Sri Lanka and developing trade links between the two countries. Promote friendship, goodwil l and understanding between the business organizations in Sri Lanka and in Malaysia.
Mission
Assist Sri Lankan companies and business people on establishing or contemplate the establishment of a trading base in Malaysia.Create awareness and provide relevant information about Sri Lanka to the Malaysian investors.

Message by the High Commissioner of Malaysia
Dear business relation,
Sri Lanka has always been one of Malaysia’s important trading partner
in the South Asian region. Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council’s has
been part of the success since the establishment of the Council in 1994.
As Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, it is my fervent hope that
we could continue to work together in enhancing trade between
Malaysia and Sri Lanka. I am confident that with the continuous active
involvement of Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council, both countries
could realise the potential of trade and investment in the two countries.
I am delighted to note that Malaysia-Sri Lanka Business Council have
evolved, grown and adjusted to the latest market condition and
globalisation. I am also bullish that the Council would be able to create
synergy and win-win situations through potential collaborations and
partnership formed between business communities in Malaysia as well
as in Sri Lanka.
Moving ahead, we need to nurture our sense of solidarity and
cooperation, our aspiration to achieve our mission and vision, and most
importantly, our commitment to maintain the relevance of the Council. I
believe Malaysia-Sri Lanka Business Council will remain committed to
play its role in strengthening the long-standing relations between
Malaysia and Sri Lanka.

Message from the president
As an affiliate organisation of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, the SLMBC has served as a conduit and facilitator of business ties between Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
Their Excellencies the High Commissioners of Malaysia in Sri Lanka have provided their patronage to the SLMBC over the years. This has been a great source of encouragement and support to the SLMBC in successfully carrying out its role.
Over the almost three decades of its existence, the SLMBC has facilitated and enabled co-operation and collaboration in diverse areas such as trade, business, education, and tourism, to name a few. Cross-border co-operation between entrepreneurs and educators is a key area of focus for the SLMBC.
When physical meetings were the norm, SLMBC hosted a number of business delegations from Malaysia to Sri Lanka, and also was part of Sri Lankan delegations visiting Malaysia. With most meetings moving to the virtual platform, the SLMBC has played a key role in ensuring close interaction between Sri Lankan and Malaysian stakeholders continue unabated.
I am deeply honoured and grateful to have been elected as President of the Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Council (“SLMBC”) for the term 2023/2024. I along with the incoming committee look forward to continuing the excellent service provided by preceding committees and invite everyone to join hands with the SLMBC in our quest to further promote cooperation and collaboration between Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

To promote trade, tourism and services between Sri Lanka and Malaysia and in particular to promote exports from Sri Lanka to Malaysia
To encourage the establishment of joint ventures in Sri Lanka between Malaysian and Sri Lankan investors.
To serve as a recognized representative of business sector interests in Sri Lanka in matters concerning business relationships with Malaysia.
To exchange information on trade and investment with the appropriate bodies in Malaysia.
To co-operate with the Government of Sri Lanka in the pursuit of the above objects.
To undertake all matters that are incidental or conducive to attaining the above objects.
To conduct joint meetings with Malaysian Business Organizations in Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
Executive Committee 2023/2024
The SLMBC elected a new Committee for the year 2023/2024 with M.H.K.M. Hameez, Managing Director (Spillburg Holdings Pvt Ltd ) elected as President.
The Council also elected Mr. Sajith Amarasekera ( Acom Aviation PL) and Mr. Marshad Barry ( Amana Bank PLC ) as Vice Presidents and Mr. Khalid M. Farook (ILham Inspiration Sri Lanka ) will serve as the Immediate Past President.
The Committee Members includes Wathsala Wijesinghe (Intentional Scholar Educational Service PL), Kushan Atapattu (Dialog Axiata PLC), Gayan Maddumarachchi (MAC Holdings PL) , G.A.D. Anthony Tissa Ganlath (Timber and Transport Services), Mr. Amrit CanagaRetna (FMJ Plastics Pvt Ltd), Dhashma Karunaratne (Aitken Spence Shipping Ltd) and Hsin Haw Li (Public Bank Berhad).
